    Title:
Cannot Dictate in Excel 2013 with Dragon 13
    Content:

DON'T KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT COMPUTING TO KNOW HOW TO HANDLE MY PROBLEM EITHER OR HOW TO OPEN A THREAD ETC.  all I know is I have Dragon premium 13 and Excel 2013 and cannot get my Dragon to work within Excel. This is so frustrating for me because Dragon is a necessity not a luxury. And I have spent far too much money to be going through this problem. When I tried to dictate in Excel, I get an error message: "Dictation is not possible or is corrupted for the current window due to the current Dragon add in for 'MS Excel' not being loaded." I then tried to apply a fix for this error message using Dragon help. Resulting in running the following command:

regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\x86)\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking13\Program\dgnexcel.dll".  When I completed this I received the following additional error message:

The module “C:\Program Files (see x86)\Nuance\Naturally Speaking 13\Pr…\dgnexcel.dll” was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070005.

If someone could please help me I would greatly appreciate it… Lost in Ohio.

Hey I had a similar problem. DNS does not work with the Click-To-Run version of Office 2013. It needs the MSI installer version of Office 2013 to make the DNS add-ins work. It took the Nuance support about 3 months to figure this out ;-)

Having the same issue.  I'm running Windows 8.1 64-Bit.  The recommended fix from the Help Center doesn't work.

I found the fix.  Open Excel and do the following:

      To re-enable an add-in

      1. In the Excel application, click the File tab.

      2. Click the Options button.

      3. In the categories pane, click Add-ins.

      4. In the details pane, verify that the add-in appears in the Inactive Application Add-ins list.

The Name column specifies the name of the assembly, and the Location column specifies the full path of the application manifest.

      5. In the Manage box, click COM Add-ins, and then click Go.

      6. In the COM Add-Ins dialog box, select the check box next to the disabled add-in.

      7. Click OK.

This did not work ... at all ... most times, the add in is already enabled - YET still receive response add in not loaded.  I used DNS 12 on my laptop last night and nooooooooo problem ... this is certainly a bug Nuance needs to rectify ...

OMG This worked for me MS Word 2013/ Nat Speak Premium 13/ Win 8  I can't believe it. I've had Nat Speak since ver 1. It's a love hate thing. Thank you for such clear instructions

Thank you for this. When I looked, the add-in was not in Inactive list, but Active; still, I followed your instructions and it worked. I am now dictating inside Excel, albeit with the "dictation box/transfer" option

Thank you, this fix worked for me.

I am also having the problem .... and have done the "add-in" steps shown above with DNS support.  It will work but then, if I close dragon then try to re-open later, it will not work.  Also the green check mark that appears to the right of the microphone is "grayed" indicating speech is not available.   I have again verified the add in is active and it is.

Every time this happens, I must restart the computer to get it to work properly.

Support is AWFUL -- I have received follow up emails from support that they have not heard from me and assume the problem is fixed -- I have responded to the emails, logged on to my account and advised the problem IS NOT FIXED and they have not responded.

For me, the add in issue was not a fix, but a very good recommendation.

OK. So what do I do to get this " MSI installer version of Office 2013 "?

After spending 3 hours on the phone with tech support, I was told that I had to contact Lenovo and ask for the MS installer, since Lenovo loaded Office 2013 on my laptop.I just have not had time to pursue it yet. I have wasted at least 30 hours trying to get this $500 program to work since I first installed it May 2015. I will forward to hearing if this fix worked for you.

Why doesn't DNS just fix the problem and send us updates?????????????????????angry

Won't be purchasing anything else until problem is fixed. FYI...

    • Maureen Ryan

Thank you for the update ... but WHAT IS THE MSI installer?  .... and where can it be obtained.

I am with Rosemary Nolder on this ... WHY DOESNT DNS JUST FIX THE PROBLEM AND SEND THE UPDATE???????   Technically we should be receiving a refund since the software which is advertised to work with MS Office and doesn't.

Ditto - I will NOT be purchasing anything else either till fixed .......

I have the same issue as the original poster. I have tried all of the options but, none of the fixes have worked. As a very frequent user of Microsoft Excel, and having spent a lot of money for this program, I find it extremely frustrating. (Microsoft 8.1 / NaturallySpeaking 13)

    • Maureen Ryan

Stillllll not working ... cmon Naunce --- fix it or issue a refund ........... VERY ANNOYING !! ... used DNS 12 yesterday on my laptop and had NO issues ..... this is a bug that needs to be fixed ... Tech support was supposed to send me the commands and never did .... criminal -- they know what needs to be fixed !

    • Maureen Ryan

I just called and asked for full refund of DNS 13 since I am unable to use the product AT ALL.  Tech support failed to email the steps used previously over the phone which did work ... until I shut down DNS & Excel -- would not execute again.  Since I did not have the steps on file -- just demanded a refund ... and am receiving it.

I have the exact same issus as "Lost in Ohio" :

DON'T KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT COMPUTING TO KNOW HOW TO HANDLE MY PROBLEM EITHER OR HOW TO OPEN A THREAD ETC.  all I know is I have Dragon premium 13 and Excel 2013 and cannot get my Dragon to work within Excel. I have been through the loop on this ad nauseam.

Went to Microsoft support for a solution to error code 0x80070005. This made no difference as a solution is to solve the problem of "run as administrator". I am already the administrator, I own the *** thing. I opened the command prompt, run as administrator, pasted in regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\x86)\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking13\Program\dgnexcel.dll" and ran it, getting a positive result message. Still not working in DNS. Opened Excel, run as administrator, checked add-ins, DNS add-in enabled. Still not working.
I cannot think of anything else to do.
Why do people find it so hard to make something that simply does what it says on the tin?

I also have Dragon Naturally Speaking (DNS) 13.0 and had trouble getting it to dictate in Excel for Office 2013. It asked me to dictateagain. I closed Excel and reopened it while DNS was running and it seems to be working okay. Not sure if this "fix" will solve the problem as  work around.  I really don't know what it means to have or not have the MSI installer version of Office 2013 and if there is a workaround other than buying another version of Office if one has the wrong version.

    • Caroljean Bongo

i cant even dictate this message. very frustrating!!!! i have a cast on my hand and really need this product to work!

      • Caroljean Bongo

And now I can dictate, and I made absolutely no changes whatsoever. This is the most frustrating software I've ever experienced in my life. It's very frustrating to have spent $500 on this professional program for it not to work and to not be able to get assistance or a refund.

    • D'Marie Barnes

I'm in same boat as everybody else. I keep buying the latest version hoping it will work more reliably. It works just often enough that I fail to request a refund in the proper time. Then feeling ripped off again. It fails in every program I use and sometimes works in every program I use. I came here hoping or a new insight. My add-in is enabled so that's not it. Don't know what the "click to run" version means or the MSI installer. We should launch a class action law suit. I'm sure I am at net loss in terms of 'time saved' by using this beast. I am at a total loss of sanity

After posting above I clicked around the Dragon Bar and it started to work- I think after I clicked on the check mark or the symbol next to it. Sometimes it placed text in the cell (as expected) and other times it placed the text in the Transfer box. After telling it once to [Cancel Recognition] it stopped working again. Can't get it to listen or respond any more. It's as if I need to cancel the Cancel Recognition but I see no way to do that. I went into Options and see nothing helpful. OMG is is sooo maddening. I've tried every sequence of starting and closing Excel and Dragon.

Has anyone found any assistance at all from from Nuance Tech Support? I bought the program around 3-4 months ago. Any other tech help sites?
