    Title:
    Dragon 12 Download
    Content:

This is p poor customer service.  To download the new version DNP12 the download times are 8 hours.  The network administrators do not understand that the downloads should never be throttled.  This just makes everyone slow and results in many, many angry customers.

I have tried towe computer with a high speed 35Mbps/35Mbps Internet link and a Gbps LAN backbone with IE and Firefox and all downloads are 7 to 8 hours when with this network configuration being used it should be 3 to 5 minutes.  The Windows 7 computer clocks out at a 6.8 Windows Experience Index.

Consequently I am forced to run as many simultaneous downloads - throttling the servers even more - to see which one finishes reliably first. Because of the long download druation and the stormy weather, power went out mid download and required me to restart them all.

If there were no throttling, this would have all been complete hours ago and many more customers would have been happy.

I had tried to download at 12:01 last night to avoid something like this, but apparently the availability claim of Aug 3rd was false because I could not download at that time. I am sure that you took my money Aug 2nd when I ordered.

Again really p poor customer support. I am obviously not happy.  That is an understatement.

Thank you for your purchase of Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12. There has been a lot of excitement around the introduction of this latest version of Dragon, and we've experienced unprecedented interest in downloading Dragon 12 from our Web store. Due to the high volume, we have heard reports of a few customers who have had difficulty downloading Dragon.

If you have attempted to download Dragon on Friday and were unsuccessful, please try again.  We have made an adjustment that will correct the issue.

If, however, you continue to have difficulty, or you receive a message stating that you are no longer able to download Dragon, please contact Nuance Customer Service.

Wow couldn't agree more!  You would think that after announcing a date and having presales they would have a clue as to how many people might be trying to download their product... Guess not!  Nuance have you ever heard of adding the mirror server?  If even for a day or two!  So far I think the product is good (not Dragon 12...can download it..gonna take 32 hours), and your support and customer service is some of the worst I have ever experienced with any software company.

What the Nuance networking people fail to understand is that throttling the data makes everyone unhappy.  If they had mirror servers, did not throttle, or had some kind of first 1000 high priority fast download algorithm they would make their customers happy. DigitalRiver is equally as bad. I have done IE, Firefox, followed their lame advice of deleting cookies and disabling the Windows firewaall, used XP on a Quad core system, used Win 7 on a six core system, and a Linux system and the Linux was the fastest download but it still has hours to go. Increasing the download task priority to above normal or high on the Windows systems helps ever so slightly to speed things up.  Max down load rate still remains under 150 Kbps regardless.

        Again p poor customer support.

Last comment, if you stop all other Windows applications and click on the IE or Firefox download Window in Windows, that gives you the highest download speed - that is still miserably slow.

Doesn't Digital River manage sales and delivery?

That's my recollection from past purchases.
